FILE FORMAT GUIDE

Why is my file format not supported?
The portal doesn’t accept what it detected.

“Unsupported file format” usually means the receiving site only accepts a short list of file types and yours is not on it.

Upload systems often use a whitelist of accepted formats, such as PDF, JPG, or PNG. Anything outside that list can be rejected immediately.

Common reasons a format is rejected

The portal only accepts a few types

A job application might allow PDF only. An image uploader may accept JPG and PNG but reject PDF or HEIC.

The filename extension does not match the real file

Changing a filename from photo.png to photo.jpg does not convert the image. The internal data remains PNG.

HEIC and newer formats

Modern phones often use HEIC or HEIF. Many older or stricter portals still expect JPG or PNG.

Important:

Renaming an extension is not the same as converting a file.

FAQ

Why is my file format not supported?

The receiving portal only accepts certain file types and the format it detected is not on that allowed list.

Can I fix an unsupported format by renaming the extension?

No. Renaming the extension does not convert the underlying file format.

What should I do with an unsupported file type?

Check which formats the portal accepts and convert the file into one of those supported formats.
